Professional Learning Network

My Twitter Experience

Source: Twitter

PLN Overview:
According to Brown and Porter, a Professional Learning Network is referred to as any group who engages in collaborative with others outside of their everyday community with the goal of improving outcomes for students.  PLN's have become more common and also have been much easier to access with the use of internet and technology.  Educators are able to access each other outside of their organizations and share ideas and practices.

PLN Assignment Overview:
For this assignment I was to create a Twitter account and interact with 15 or more individuals or organizations relevant to my learning environment.  I was then to participate in a Twitter chat and post some resources that I found.

My Twitter Account:
My twitter address is @jwaski103.  I was able to connect with 53 people or organizations.

My Twitter Chats:
I participated in several Twitter chats.  This was definitely a new experience for me so the more I Tweeted the more I started to get the hang of it.  I answered @introvertELL's question of "How many personal days do you get a year in your contract?".  I replied with a little joke, "This question is a little personal don't you think. lol 2." Not sure if humor is a thing on Twitter, I'd thought I'd give it a try.

I retweeted and replied to @edutopia's tweet sharing an article on 5 Adaptable SEL Strategies for In-Person or Distance Learning.  I replied that it was a great article and SEL strategies.  I also shared what I use in my class to help students self-reflect.

My Experience with Twitter:
My overall experience with Twitter was positive.  I will continue to use Twitter in a professional way.  I will not use this as a personal social media account.  I will continue to use it as a professional learning network sharing ideas and resources with other educators.  I will also use this Twitter account to have an online presence within my school organization.
