Step 3 Reflection
Step 3 Reflection
We have just completed Step 3 of our Instructional Designer
Project. To this point we have chosen a
need in our room that technology can help solve. For this project I choose to implement an
instructional technology platform, Boom
Cards, into my class to help me save time with planning and grading.
How has the process
been? The process has been very positive.
Since starting this project as I plan for my classes I try to think
about how I can add a technology aspect to help support student learning. This process opened my eyes to the importance
of using technology to help support student learning. Our students are getting more technologically
advanced everyday and starting earlier and earlier with using technology in the
classroom.
Have there been challenges? To this point I have not
had any challenges and the process has been pretty easy to follow and understand. I’m not saying that challenges may not arise
but to this point the project has been fun, engaging, and easy to implement.
Are you still
excited about your topic and believe in its potential? I am still excited about implementing Boom
Cards into my classroom and believe it has potential to engage my students
while saving me time by not having to plan as much and grade. I’ve already purchased a license of Boom
Cards and started searching for engaging formatives to use in my class.
What has been the most positive aspect of this part
of the journey? The most negative (if any!)? The most positive
aspect of this project has been searching for the right tech tool to use within
the class. During my search for a tech
tool I also found some other great tools that I would like to use within in my
classroom. The most negative aspect has
been finding out that funding may not be available and having to use my own
money. So far I’ve invested a little
over $100. I’m hoping that I can reach
out to the right people at my school to find funding for this tech tool and to
be reimbursed.
Overall, what is
your perspective for being a leader in utilizing technology in your
classroom/school/library to enhance learning for all students?
I believe that I can be a leader within my school community by
continuing to use tech tools within my classroom. A lot of teachers use tech tools, but I would
like to be a teacher that uses tech tools in a more efficient and engaging way.
