In your opinion, what is the most difficult aspect of incorporating technology into a STEAM classroom?  Why is that particular aspect so difficult to over come? 

The most difficult aspect of incorporating technology into a STEAM classroom is to do it in a natural way that follows the flow of the project.  I noticed as 21st century educators we are quick to implement new technologies into our classrooms.  This can be problematic as some technologies seemed to be forced into the classroom.  There are a lot of great tech tools out there, finding the right one for the right project can be difficult. 

 

 Which letter of the STEAM acronym do you think you have learned the most about during this course?  What have you learned?

When thinking about which letter of the acronym STEAM I learned most about, I believe there is a tie between Technology and Engineering.  I really like learning about how Engineering and how the Engineering aspect can use low tech means to help with a project.  I also really enjoyed learning about different technology tools that we can implement into your classrooms.

 

Which letter of the STEAM acronym do you think you will have the most trouble integrating into your next STEAM activity?  Why?

I believe that I will have the most difficulty with implement Art into my next project.  It is very difficult to implement art in a natural way.  For my current project of building a garden, Art was utilized within the design piece to help make the garden aesthetically appealing for purpose of getting approved by school administration. 

 

 After earning your Technology Specialist endorsement through this program, what might you propose to your school administration in STEAM improvement?

If I continue with courses to obtain a Technology Specialist endorsement, I will propose the garden project I created in this course.  I believe my students would have a lot of fun with this project and any staff that would be involved would also enjoy the project.

 CIPA/COPPA Protecting Children Online Source: Online Danger  Opening Thoughts:  Protecting children online is a topic that is very relevant and personal to me.  Being a father of a 6 year old girl I take this topic very serious.  My daughter has access to a tablet and enjoys watching videos or playing games online.  I constantly monitor what she is doing and often find myself having to block videos and games that pop up on her device.  As a parent it makes me feel better knowing that there are laws out there such as CIPA and COPPA to protect children.   Children's Online Privacy Protection Rule (COPPA): The primary purpose of COPPA is to place parents in control over what information is collected online from their young children.  This law was enacted to protect children under the age of 13.   Children's Internet Protection Act (CIPA):  The Federal Communications Commission enacted CIPA to address concerns about childre...

  Algorithms  Source: Geeks for Geeks This week I chose to dive into and investigate algorithms.  The topic of algorithms is very broad and almost impossible to fully cover all topics and usage of algorithms.  I will keep this in general terms and focus more on social media algorithms.  Overview of Algorithms: According to the article, Algorithmic Awareness , by Media Smarts, algorithms are defined as a set of step-by-step instructions for solving a problem or completing a mathematical or computational task. Algorithms sort data to find patterns and make predictions or recommendations.
